The Crown Jewels

This is our first pearl merle litter born at the rattery in years. Both parents come, at least in part, from lines new to us in the Northwest and, so far, I could not be happier with them in both personality and appearance. Brass has been an excellent and attentive mother but without overprotectiveness: she has trusted me to handle the babies from the very beginning, which makes socializing them so much easier than with a nervous mom hovering. These little guys have been pawed by humans daily and seem to like it just fine, just like their parents - Brass insists on shoulder time and Kumamoto is first to the door to get his cheek rubs in the morning. The coats on the babies are a little confusing as almost all of them have some wave to them, which is genetically unlikely, but, then, so is the gender mix of seven girls and only one boy, so I guess these guys are all about confounding the odds?
